The year 2010 is an important milestone for Bell Shakespeare. It marks 20 years since this intrepid company started with no more than a burning desire to bring classic theatre to the people of Australia, so that they might marvel at the greatest plays ever written and see their lives, loves and aspirations truly reflected.
It will be a year of Shakespearean extremes – from the vast searing tragedy of King Lear to the tender lyricism of Twelfth Night to downright joyous silliness with Andy Griffiths’ Just Macbeth! A powerful complement to our anniversary season will be our association with Sydney Theatre Company in a landmark production of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
